Experience

Previously, Luo Yan lectured in the Confucius Institute, Nanyang Technological University and the Singapore Chinese Chamber Institute of Business. She conducted the Work Development Agency (WDA) Business Mandarin programs, corporate in-house Business Mandarin trainings and public Gateway to Mandarin courses.

Prior to that, Luo Yan was a bilingual consultant, partnering Khaw & Sons Pte Ltd, a Mandarin Language and Culture service provider in Singapore. A key program she anchored was "Plugging into China Connections - History & Translation" for Temasek Polytechnic students.

Luo Yan has broad experience working with financial institutions, multi-national companies, hospitals and educational institutes. She conducted trainings in Ascendas, Banyan Tree, DBS, IE Singapore, NCS, National Healthcare Group, Northern Trust, OCBC, Roche Diagnostics, Sing Grid, Singapore General Hospital, Standard Chartered Bank, Temasek Holdings, Temasek Polytechnic, Times Publishing, UBS AG, Wachovia Bank etc.

Besides beginners’ Mandarin, she trained Business Mandarin in specialized fields such as Asset management, Auditing, Credit Risk Control, Investment, REITS, Private Banking, Private Trust,  IT Auditing, Treasury, Corporate Communication, Hospital Frontline, etc..   

She is also an expert translator and copywriter, having translated for banks, asset managers, advertisement agencies and many others. She is experienced in conference interpretation as well.

Before she came to Singapore in 2001, she was an English lecturer in Peking University, Beijing, China.

Luo Yan started her career in 1993 as a translator and interpreter in Sino Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) in Beijing.
